Do you know which is the world’s oldest steam engine? Do you know in which country is this steam engine located? And finally…do you know that this oldest surviving steam engine in the history of the world is all set to embark upon a new journey and is all set to repeat history? Well, my wide eyed readers, here’s a pleasant surprise for you all!
Here comes the Fairy Queen of India
The “Fairy Queen”, as it is aptly called, happens to be the oldest surviving steam engine in the whole world. The best part is, it is located in our very own India and it is ready yet another time, to haul a train. But, what makes this whole affair so worthwhile and attention grabbing? Well, it’s special and it’s so, because the train that is going to be hauled by this historic engine is no commoner either. It’s a special Indian heritage train, which will pave its way from Delhi to Rajasthan’s Sariska National Park, Alwar. The whistle blows on October 23, 2010 and the heritage train is on its duty till March 12, 2011. The Northern Railway is even hopeful of doing a special trip by this Indian heritage train and historic engine on October 9, 2010, at the time of the Commonwealth Games.
